2 Powerful Stories

1 Family Legacy

Hope and History is a father-son collaboration that centers on the stories of York, the Black explorer of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and Monk Estill, the first freed Black man in the Kentucky territories.

Hasan Davis and Malcolm Davis bring family legacy, personal story, and powerful engagement to every program and performance. Over the last decade, they have worked together as facilitators, developed Youth Leadership programs, and taught workshops across the country.

As the 250th anniversary of our nation begins, father and son have launched Hope and History—a commitment to bring forward the stories of people who helped shape America but were too often left out of the public narrative. Their goal is to use history to open doors for understanding, connection, and hope.

“We help people remember how to tell it, live it, and pass it on.” - Hasan Davis
